‘Never Obsolete’ has two meanings. It refers to the enduring appeal and influence of synthesizers, samples and popular styles from the 90s, but also the general ethos of amateur musicians from that decade. New music-making tools and digital samples paved the way for a musical revolution. More people could create professional music than ever before, and new sampling technology meant they had an enormous library of sounds at their fingertips. Even though that revolution was eventually stamped out by corporate elites, the anarchic spirit of that time lives on. It’s that spirit which is Never Obsolete.

In that spirit, the contents of this album are released under a Creative Commons Attribution Share-alike license. That means you can sample, remix and use them however you want, for free, even in commercial works - as long as you attribute me, and release your own creation under the same license (note: this includes using the music as background music in videos or games). For proprietary licensing, please contact me: hello@robwel.ch. The tracks (and some loops\stems) will also be making their way to freesound and the free music archive.
